Project Details

In 2019 City Council awarded the design contract to Coleman Engineering. The project work is generally described as the construction and replacement of approximately 2 miles of untreated water pipeline between the City of Fort Bragg’s water treatment plant at the intersection of Sherwood Road and Monsen Way, and Forest Road 450, located in Jackson Demonstration State Forest. The pipeline is located in both rural and rugged, undeveloped terrain and includes a bore and jack crossing of State Highway 20 at Dwyer Lane, the Hare Creek crossing replacement, and a small pump station and short section of force main located at Newman Reservoir. This project is critical to secure the supply of raw water from the City's best quality sources, and the existing pipeline is nearing the end of its service life.

Construction

In February 2024 City Council awarded the construction contract to T&S Construction Company, Inc and the construction management contract to SHN Consulting Engineers & Geologists, Inc. Construction is anticipated to start in Summer 2024. 

Grant Information 

This project is made possible by the grant received from the California Department of Water Resources.

At its regular meeting on November 19, 2021 City Council approved a resolution authorizing the City Manager to represent the City of Fort Bragg during the application process for funding assistance from the California Department of Water Resources which would eventually turn into a grant for $8,800,000.
