What is C.E.R.T.?

CERT Community Emergency Response TeamThe Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.

The CERT course is taught in the community by a trained team of first responders who have completed a CERT Train-the-Trainer course conducted by their state training office for emergency management, or FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI). CERT training includes disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations and light search and rescue operations.

Below you will find some resources if you are interested in CERT or are active with the program.

If you are interested in attending a CERT training or becoming involved with the Fort Bragg CERT team please contact Sgt. McLaughlin at jmclaughlin@fortbragg.com. You can also reach us via Facebook, or our email at fortbraggcert@gmail.com.

FAQs

Join CERTIf I take CERT training will I be required to be on the team?
No. While we would love to have as many members as possible, the point of the training is to provide basic skills to those so they can better help themselves, their family, and their neighbors in the event of a disaster or critical incident.

How much does the training cost?
Training and membership is free.

Who can attend the training?
Anyone. There is a job or a place for everyone on a CERT team, and remember, this training is about providg individuals with basic training to help themselves and others.
