City Service

Bernie Norvell was sworn into office on December 12, 2016 and was elected Vice Mayor on December 10, 2018. He was reappointed to City Council in August 2020 and was elected Mayor on December 14, 2020. Bernie sits on the Community Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee. He is the City’s representative on the Fort Bragg Fire Protection Authority along with Councilmember Lindy Peters. In addition, Bernie is a member of two ad hoc committees: Homeless Action Committee and Mill Site Committee. His term on the Council expires in December of 2024.

Personal History

Bernie has been a Fort Bragg Resident nearly all his life. He has managed his family’s small business, raised two children, and coached kids of all ages in various sports. Bernie is proud of the town’s history and during his successful City Council campaign, he promised to work hard for the citizens of Fort Bragg and move forward with positive change. He is a respectful community leader who listens, is responsive, and understands the value of community, business and family.
